Check out my impressions of Class of '09
It has been a long time since I've shot a hands-on/thoughts video as I have been recovering from ankle surgery. That being said, I was able to get my hands on a review code for Class of '09. This visual novel has several endings, that tell the tales of a high schooler, Nicole and her interactions with other students. Playing the game is like watching a play as you sit back and watch the action happen. The only times you need to click is to take the story in different directions by using your sidekick phone to make choices. It felt like the game was trying too hard to be overly edgy at times like when the guidance counselor was a pedophile or the photography teacher asks some of the students to model for him at an out-of-school event for community service. One of the downfalls with the game was the writing as I mentioned, was trying to be too edgy and most of the time fell flat. One of the few genuine lines was from the guidance councelor who said that if Nicole told her parents what they were talking about, he would say she was acting out and I'm sure guidance councelors actually do that. The likes of Elise Lovelock, Kayli Mills, and Kira Buckland headline the voice cast and do a good job in their performances. If each scenario was a little bit longer, the acting could have shown through even more. It's these reasons that I'm giving Class of '09 on Steam a 6/10.
