The FindaWiiU web site will make things easier for people trying to buy the newly released Wii U system this holiday season. The site will make locating the system a breeze by using TalkTo, the texting service

During my younger years I can remember going Christmas shopping with my mother, trying to get that elusive toy or hot item of the holiday season. The FindaWiiU web site, which uses TalkTo smart phone tech that allows people to text businesses and actually get replies from them, will eliminate all that "driving in circles" feel the holidays have. What I mean by that is this text message service will almost certainly get rid of the driving to one store and then the next store, trying to find that hard to get toy this December.

The point of the tech is to help people find stores that aren't sold out of the Wii U yet. “The Wii U is hot this year and they’re going to fly off the shelves,” said TalkTo CEO Stuart Levinson. “We want to make it easy for people to get their hands on the WiiU, and to shop local. Now it’s possible, by texting stores with TalkTo.” It would appear that the TalkTo people want to help people get their hands on the system as well as help small market/local businesses at the same time. Seeing how underprepared Nintendo was for just the pre-orders for the Wii U makes me glad I was able to grab one the first day but if I hadn't, this would have been really helpful in getting one.

Being able to text stores eliminates having the store call to see if another store has the item. If this service takes off, and there is no reason why it shouldn't, then it will make shopping easier because you can just text the store and see if they have the item even before you go. In this day and age of technology, being able to tecxt businesses for inventory was the logical next step. You can already check availablity on the internet, so why shouldn't you be able to do so on your phone. You can also use the Web app as well. The web site looks simple enough to use and since their formula is based around texting, how hard can it be. They also say you will get a timely response from the business you texted and that's great. Who would wanna wait around all day at the peak of the Christmas shopping season, needing to get a toy for their child. This service will easily be the talk of the holidays, as long as it works.
